Awards and Prizes

As incentive and in appreciation of the commitment and success of the    Project participants, the following shall be offered to Students and Schools who have contributed significantly to the success of this project. 

  1. The   Student of the Year Award:  Presented to the student who is successful in selling the most bulbs overall among all participating students in Arlington and Fairfax, in any combination, during the course of this project and presents an accurate student tally sheet to the school liaison for the Bright Futures Project at his or her participating school.  

Award: A   Student of the Year Certificate recognizing the student’s contribution to environmental stewardship and an I Pod Nano, donated as a result of a grant from Dominion Power. Four runner up students will receive I Pod shuffles.

  1. The    Environmental Steward Award:  Presented to every individual student who is successful in selling over 20 boxes of bulbs, in any combination, during the course of this project, and presents an accurate student tally sheet to the school liaison for the Bright Futures project at his or her participating school, and registers for this award with the Bright Futures Project. 

Award: A  Environmental Steward Certificate recognizing the student’s contribution to environmental stewardship

  1. The    School of the Year Award: To the school registered on or before April 22nd that is successful in selling the largest number of bulbs featured in this program.

Award: A $1,000 grant from Dominion Power and the Bright Futures Project, to be used by the school in an environmental program or project.

The small print: If, for any category of award there is a tie, there shall be a drawing to determine the winner. If, for any category of award there is a disagreement as to the meaning of wording, omission of factors or failure of interpretation of the rules, or as to the rightful winner, the decision as to the winner is in the sole discretion of  the management of the Bright Futures Project.  This offer of awards and prizes is discretionary and does not establish any rights for any party participating in the project.

Any school, individual or other entity who wishes to be considered for the award of  a Certificate or prize, must, if a school, register with Bright Futures on or before April 22, 2008, and if an individual purchaser or student, notify Bright Futures of his or her interest in being considered for the award by emailing Bright Futures at info@brightfuturesproject.org on or before May 5th, with the email header  “Student Award Registration,” identifying the award for which he/she is eligible, any necessary information on numbers of bulbs sold and the name and phone number of the school liaison for the project,  who will them be responsible for verifying the accuracy of  the information provided.
